| Biography: Markkii
Biography George “Markkii” Harrison, Jr., began loving different styles of music at a young age, as a producer/singer/songwriter he brings his own definition to music. At the age of 16, Markkii was forced to leave home with a dream and the clothes on his back. “This is where the journey began for me”, he says. “The road to fulfill this dream has been one of many ups and downs.” After finishing high school in South Carolina, “Markkii” enlisted in the United Stated Army as a Military Policeman. While stationed in Georgia he found himself surrounded by people with the same dream, and quickly befriended the artists in the local music community. At 21, Markkii was on the Saturday Night Mix Tape with DJ Al Irvin. This opportunity opened doors for a local television show with two friends called “Hot Spot” on a local NBC affiliate, which is where he received his first mixing credits. After the military, Markkii returned to South Carolina; still with music in his heart he was invited to become the host of a travelling trademarked karaoke show called “Afro-oke”. With the popularity of “Afro-oke”, Markkii encountered many aspiring artists and was graced with guest appearances by celebrities like “Juvenile” and “Prophet Jones”. Soon the day would come that Markkii would hit the stage as an artist, when he was approached a local R&B group then called “Diamondz in Da Ruff”. He became the fourth member of the group and they were later known as “Diamondz”. While with Diamondz, Markkii shared a stage with industry greats like “Anthony Hamilton”, “Mario Winans”, “The Nappy Roots”, and The Legendary “Lattimore”. Unfortunately, while talented, the group faltered from the many pressures of the music industry. Another chapter in life opened, Markkii began producing from South Carolina to New York where he adopted the name M’ Notes. M’ Notes produced for artists like Twalla Jay, Slink aka Shawn Travolta. While producing was fulfilling, Markkii felt that there was more that was set forth for him to accomplish. Now in 2010, Markkii has released the first single from his solo debut album entitled “Sunshine”. It’s sure to be a well orchestrated musical adventure, giving back Love, Life and Freedom. |
