Ingrid quickly achieved acclaim as an opera and R&B singer and started winning contests and honors at a young age. Racking up vocalist of the year titles and Best Actress awards to name a few.

After moving to Boston in 2002, she was promptly recognized at the prestigious music school Berklee College for her vocal talents. Chosen as a featured soloist several times as well as being recognized with many other honors. She then began performing with local bands.  Ingrid now writes, records and performs her original music throughout New England and the Midwest with a quickly growing fan base.

Gerdes’s original debut album titled, ‘The Eclectic Collection,’ has received favorable reviews all over the world. A Chicago Sun-Times review calls her “The Next Big Thing.” A prominent DJ hails Gerdes as “one of the most interesting and versatile singers on the circuit today, both technically fantastic and true to herself.” He also describes her music as, “The smoothness of classic, Motown-era pop; the grit and sex of Southern-soul; the sunshine and swaying feel of reggae; the romantic mood of Eva Cassidy-like sensual ballads – all on a single CD.” With original pieces, both personally written and produced, this album epitomizes her appreciation and passion for honest music.

Recent honors include being chosen as The Best Local Band in Boston 2009, chosen as one of Boston’s Best Local Performers by WBZ TV and chosen as Singer Universe’s Top 5 singers, all for her original material.

The original pieces highlight Gerdes’ many musical talents, as she wrote the lyrics and music for all instruments, sang all vocals, and arranged and produced the songs. She also rearranged two popular songs, “Have a Heart” and “Love is on the Way” to reflect her personal musical style.

“I infused my debut album with all the musical styles I really love,” Gerdes said.  “I wanted to create something totally different, so I blended together my favorite sounds.  I added a dash of this, a pinch of that, and a whole handful of my personality, and out came ‘The Eclectic Collection.’ I like to think of it as baking a music cake!”

For Gerdes, born and raised in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, her first album celebrates the talents Boston has to offer. With local musicians backing her soulful sound, Gerdes recorded and produced her “The Eclectic Collection” in Bean Town.
