Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black Radio

As I was preparing a series of shows for Black History month on the pioneers of Black radio, I received a message from a friend which contactained an articel on Dr. King speaking to The National Association of Radio and Television Announcers. (N.A.T.R.A.)

Now for those who are unfamiliar with this organization, I encourage to read the article loacated on the AllHipHop.com. In the article and the clip which I am posting here, Dr King spoke about the many contributions of the on-air personalities during the civil rights struggle. He points out the untold service that black radio played and by extension, continues to play society.

You will enjoy this clip and I invite you to join with us Friday evenings during the month of February “Masters of the airwaves” , a series highlighting the pioneers of black radio.

Special thanks to Davey D from AllHipHop for the great research and article.
